Grand Forks AFB remembers, honors 9/11 victims
Firefighters with the 319th Civil Engineer Squadron ascend stairs during a memorial stair climb Sept.11, 2019, in the air traffic control tower on Grand Forks Air Force Base, North Dakota. The firefighters and other volunteer participants climbed the tower a total of 14 times, equating to the World Trade Center’s 110 stories. Names of victims from the 9/11 attacks were carried to the top of the tower by each climber, to be placed on a display board commemorating all who died on that day in 2001.
