Grand Forks AFB remembers, honors 9/11 victims
Names of 9/11 victims are placed on a board to honor their lives during a memorial stair climb Sept.11, 2019, in the air traffic control tower on Grand Forks Air Force Base, North Dakota. The names were placed on the board by participants of the climb, who completed 14 trips up the tower to equate the World Trade Center’s 110 stories. Firefighters with the 319th Civil Engineer Squadron ascend stairs during a memorial stair climb Sept.11, 2019, in the air traffic control tower on Grand Forks Air Force Base, North Dakota. The firefighters and other volunteer participants climbed the tower a total of 14 times, equating to the World Trade Center’s 110 stories. Names of victims from the 9/11 attacks were carried to the top of the tower by each climber, to be placed on a display board commemorating all who died on that day in 2001.
