Rank and name:   Master Sgt. David Crawley

Unit:  319th Air Base Wing/IG

Duty title:  Inspector General Inspector

Time in service:  19 years, 7 months

Hometown:  Ariton, Ala.

Why is serving in the Air Force important to you?

I was like many other Airmen when I joined the Air Force; I joined for the benefits. But when I reenlisted, my view changed on this particular question. My reason for reenlistment wasn't focused on my needs anymore; I now had a desire to take on my responsibilities as an NCO. I now find that the Airmen (Big A) I serve with and their progression and passion are what is most important. If I, as a senior NCO, can inspire and instill the qualities into our Airmen that make our Air Force better for the future, then I feel that I have achieved my goal.

What moment or accomplishment as a Warrior of the North are you most proud of and why?

The thing I'm most proud of as a Warrior of the North is having the pprivilege of supervising our Airmen! Through the good and the bad times, our Airmen are constantly learning and being shaped into our future leaders.

What is your favorite part of your job?

Through working with the IG I have had the great opportunity to see the inner workings of the wing.  Also, through inspecting the units I have learned a great deal as to how we all work together to accomplish the wing's mission.

Who inspires you and why?

I have found inspiration in a few past supervisors who were a bit untraditional. I am also inspired by my family; they are always there to motivate me and keep me strong.

What's the first thing that made you think Grand Forks Air Force Base was a cool place other than the temperature or weather?

The first thing that made me think Grand Forks Air Force Base was a cool place was the experience of seeing so many new and exciting opportunities open up to me once I got out in the local community and made some contacts and friends through different organizations.
