Honorable T-shirt: Sgt. Corey J. Rystad Remembered

Kurt Philion wears a shirt with the picture of Corey J. Rystad, a childhood friend and fallen soldier, who was killed in combat while traveling on a patrol mission near Fallujah, Iraq, after an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle on Dec. 2, 2006. Philion honors Rystad’s memory by carrying a 3-foot by 5-foot American flag while running races with a T-shirt bearing an image of the soldier. (U.S. Air Force photo/Staff Sgt. Luis Loza Gutierrez)
