Celebrating a century of game-changers: refueling demonstration scheduled to fly over Grand Forks
In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the first aerial refueling mission, the U.S. Air Force is conducting aerial refueling demonstrations throughout the United States and overseas June 27, 2023. The East Leg of the flight formation will flyover the University of North Dakota at approximately 4:22 p.m., continue to Grand Forks International Airport at approximately 4:26 p.m. and end at Grand Forks Air Force Base at approximately 4:28 p.m.

The KC-135 Stratotanker briefly returns
A KC-135 Stratotanker, assigned to the 22nd Air Refueling Wing, nears the parking ramp May 6, 2019, on Grand Forks Air Force Base, North Dakota. Two KC-135 Stratotankers, assigned to the 22nd Refueling Wing, receive routine maintenance after arriving May 6, 2019, to Grand Forks Air Force Base, North Dakota. A KC-135 Stratotanker, assigned to the 22nd Air Refueling Wing, taxis to the parking ramp May 6, 2019, on Grand Forks Air Force Base, North Dakota. The KC-135 is a familiar face in Grand Forks AFB’s history, having been a part of its mission for 50 years, but was completely replaced by the current RQ-4 Global Hawk operations in 2010.
