Members of the Grand Forks Air Force Base Honor Guard drop pop tabs into collection containers located inside the Base Honor Guard break room on July 14, 2014. The organization of approximately a dozen active-duty members from Grand Forks AFB, N.D., continues to collect pop tabs after contributing more than 1,100 of the tiny aluminum pieces to Air Force Sergeants Association, Chapter 964,which along with American Legion Post #6 in Grand Forks, N.D., donated a grand total of 68,003 pop tabs to the Ronald McDonald House in Bismarck, N.D. Gruters and his wife Sandy coins during a luncheon held at Grand Forks Air Base, North Dakota Mar. 8. Capt. Gruters and a fellow pilot were shot down Dec. 21, 1967 and subsequently captured by the enemy during the Vietnam War. The two Airmen were taken to a small prison where encountered Air Force Medal of Honor winner, Capt. Lance P. Sijan. They were held there one week before being transported to the Hanoi Hilton. He and his fellow Prisoners of War were released in March 1973. He and his wife Sandy travel around the United States to various military installations spreading the message of faith in captivity. Presenting Jennifer Olson a Gift
Maj. Matthew Suhre, 319th Communications Squadron commander presents Jennifer Olson, wife of Robert Olson, a gift in honor of her husband for educating young children at Nathan F. Twining Elementary and Middle School for 41 and a half years on May 18, 2015, on Grand Forks Air Force Base, N.D. Olson joined the Army Reserves in 1961 and after completing service he began teaching students in 1969 and also coached seventh and eighth grade football and track teams.
