Capt. Brett Kuhrt, 319th Force Support Squadron sustainment services flight commander, rose above 49 other nominees to win the Air Mobility Command's A1 2013 Personnel Company Grade Officer of the Year Award.

Stationed at Grand Forks AFB for more than a year, the Bastrop, Texas, native organized and coordinated multiple events including the Winter and Summer Bash, the Triple 8 competition and Super Bowl Extravaganza.

"I am humbled that someone thought highly enough of the work that the Force Support Squadron and I had done to recognize it at such a high level," said Kuhrt. "I am thankful for the opportunities that I have received to excel."

Kuhrt took charge of last year's Super Bowl Extravaganza, which is Air Mobility Command's number one Morale Welfare and Recreation fundraising event, and raised $13,000. More than 600 people attended the event.

Kuhrt was deployed when he received an email announcing the AMC winners.

"Our chief here had received an email from her unit indicating the winners. I had her scroll down out of curiosity, and there it was," said Kuhrt.

His supervisor, Lt. Col. Regina D. Castro, 319th FSS commander, said "he took Super Bowl Extravaganza to a new level."

"He has an impeccable work ethic," said Castro. "When he is on the job, I know it will get done and it will get done right!"

The 319th FSS mission is to take care of people and that is exactly what these activities are designed to do, Khurt said.

"Anytime someone wins an award it is a unit accomplishment," said Kuhrt. "Our organization does so much to enhance the quality of life for the installation's Airmen and having the privilege of being a part of that great quality of life would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of the people within the 319th FSS."
