Name: Darwin "D.J". Garman

Unit: 319th Medical Group

Duty title: Unit Program Coordinator / Commander Support Staff flight chief

Time on the job: 3 years, 6 months

Total years of federal service: 29 years, 6 months

Hometown: Grand Forks, N.D.

Why is working alongside military members important to you?
It allows me to help the people assigned to the medical group and ensure whatever they need is taken care of on a regular basis.

What moment or accomplishment as a Warrior of the North are you most proud of and why?
The thing I'm most proud of as a Warrior of the North is the reputation that Mrs. Courtney Willis and I have earned as the medical group's commander support staff. We take great pride in having the folks in the clinic trust that if they need help with a military decoration, an enlisted performance report, a government purchases card or any other people program; we will do everything we can to make sure it is taken care of.

What is your favorite part of your job?
My favorite part of my job is the people I work with every day. I also like the fact that my job is ever-changing. It is very seldom the same day after day.

Who or what inspires you and why?
The people I work with every day inspire me. My co-workers are awesome people that make it fun to come to work each and every day. If you can't come to work and have fun, why do it?

What's the first thing that made you think Grand Forks Air Force Base was a cool place other than the temperature or weather?
The first thing that made me think Grand Forks Air Force Base was a cool place was the fact the base was less than a two-hour drive from West Fargo, N.D. I grew up in West Fargo and enjoyed being some place close to home and family.
