Name: Yesenia McPhaul

Unit: 319 Medical Support Squadron

Duty title: Medical Support Assistant

Time on the job: 1 year

Hometown:  Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico

Why is working at the 319th Medical Group important to you?
Even though I do not play a direct role in patient care for our members treated at the facility because I am on the administrative side of things, I know we are all working together to keep the Warriors of the North as healthy as possible and that is important to me.

What moment or accomplishment as a Warrior of the North are you most proud of and why?
Moments that I am most proud of as a Warrior of the North are when I see medical records that I have requested come in from bases around the world. It is important to make sure patients have their complete medical record accessible for continued treatment. Knowing that I have had a hand in tracking, updating records and delivering requested medical information makes me feel proud of what I do.

What is your favorite part of your job?
Whether I am in-processing a new member or providing documentation that someone is in need of, my favorite part of my job is the daily interaction with patients.

Who or what inspires you and why?
My three children inspire me. I know they depend on me and are always watching me so I strive to model and remind them to do their best no matter what the task is.

What's the first thing that made you think Grand Forks Air Force Base was a cool place other than the temperature or weather?
I thought Grand Forks AFB was a cool place because the close proximity to Minneapolis. The short drive allowed us to watch our first NFL game with our children and we were able to see the Carolina Panthers win. Go Panthers!! We came from Eielson AFB, Alaska, so we knew what to expect weather wise.

Do you have any military service or anyone close to you? If so when and where did they serve?
I was prior active duty myself for six years and stationed at Eglin AFB, Fla., as an Information Manager. My husband is still proudly serving the Air Force as well as my older brother. I have a younger brother who served in the Air Force for four years and my father retired from the Army.
