The command post will upgrade the old, clunky office set up to a state-of-the art, cutting-edge system that will be more effective in providing critical communication.

The decision to remodel was made after Air Mobility Command notified the command post of a scheduled telephone system upgrade, according to Tech. Sgt. Roger Pestana, 319th Air Refueling Wing Command Post, but the renovation will overhaul much more then just the telephones.

The entire computer console will be upgraded, allowing for more storage, greater accessibility and easier movement. For now, they are using the alternate command post, which has not been fully activated in more than four years. The alternate command post is more challenging to use because it has limited capabilities for radio and telephone, according to Sergeant Pestana.

The contractors are scheduled to complete the makeover in the beginning of February. The end result will provide command post personnel with better capabilities, something that ultimately benefits the entire base.

"The console will adapt to us instead of us adapting to the console," said Sergeant Pestana.
