Airman 1st Class Carlos Eggleston, 319th Comptroller Squadron, makes a bold and opinionated statement. He believes he is the best dressed Airman at Grand Forks Air Force Base.

"It's just apparent to me," said the Chicago native. "When I go out, I see a lot of people all are wearing similar outfits. What makes me different, is that I bring random things together that simply work."

Airman Eggleston said that he got into fashion while he was still in high school.

"I have always liked looking good," said the confident Airman. "When I was in high school, we had to wear uniforms. The uniform we had to wear included a dress shirt and tie. I didn't want to wear a regular tie like everybody else, so I would go out and find character ties like Mickey Mouse and wear them to school."

Airman Eggleston's desire to look good in high school carried over to his previous profession of a salesman before he joined the Air Force.

"When I was working in sales, I didn't like to wear suits every day like everyone else so I started to buy casual articles of clothing like sweaters and cardigans," said Airman Eggleston.

Airman Eggleston describes his sense of style as urban casual.

"I usually place emphasis on layering patterns," said Airman Eggleston. "The signature aspects of my style include subtle color schemes, a fusion of hoodies and button-down shirts and the many variations of the naval pea coat. To me, my style is a combination of sophistication and attitude like Keith Richards meets George Clooney.

My style of dress is merely an extension of my personality: it's bold, creative and individualistic."

Even though Airman Eggleston likes to shop and go to Canada on the weekends, he also likes to stay current with current events by watching television.

"I watch MSNBC and CNN, because I like to watch politics and to see what is going on in the world," said Airman Eggleston.

The fashion-forward Airman said that he joined the Air Force because he wanted to learn about government spending.

"At the time, I wanted to go into a career field similar to what I am doing now and this finance job was available, so I took it," said Airman Eggleston.

Although Airman Eggleston loves to look good, he does not see a future for himself in fashion.

"I am going to finish the last two credits I need to graduate with my Bachelor of Science in English," said Airman Eggleston. "After I finish that, I plan to get my master's degree in marketing or urban planning."
