Retraining in the Air Force is relatively common and can be a suitable way for many Airmen to pursue alternate career paths. For Staff Sgt. Nikki Webb, 319th Air Base Wing Chaplain Assistant, the choice of retraining was not so common.

Sergeant Webb originally enlisted in the Air Force with security forces in 2005 and made the career change 5 years later--it was a change she is happy with.

"I really enjoyed being a cop, but it wasn't a job cut out for the family time I would have liked," said Webb. "I'm happy to be able to take advantage of the opportunity of having a job where I get to help people; I love this job."

Sergeant Webb is also the chapel facility manager for both the Prairie Rose and Sunflower Chapels, and plans morale events for different squadrons and organizations all over the base. Maintaining involvement with large varieties of people suits Webb just fine.

"I love to talk," said the energetic Kentucky native. "The best part of the job is meeting new people, it is exciting."

Sergeant Webb is not only partial to humans, but also to a couple other members of her immediate family.

"My husband and I have two dogs, a Rat Terrier named Jade and a Jack Russell named Kota," she said. "They get whatever they want, they're way too spoiled."

Sergeant Webb enjoys taking them for runs when the weather is ideal, and also stays in shape by keeping busy with a variety of activities.

"I love soccer, hiking and playing most all sports," said Sergeant Webb. "Staying fit and active is a big part of both mine and my husband's life."

Sergeant Webb is currently working on her package for the commissioning Scholarships for Outstanding Airman Program, which she will submit in September. If all goes as planned, she will both be an officer and the proud mother of two children in the coming years.
