Tech. Sgt. Robert Delacruz, 319th Medical Operations Squadron, has experienced what life is like in multiple career fields. If all goes as planned, that pattern will likely only repeat itself.

Delacruz is the noncommissioned-officer-in-charge of the occupational health clinic on Grand Forks Air Force Base, and oversees various programs regarding the maintenance of health records for Airmen across the base. A former F-16 Fighting Falcon weapons loader, Delacruz will soon turn his attention to the classroom after being accepted into the Palace Chase program -- an opportunity that will allow him to pursue a full-time degree while remaining in the military as a reservist.

"I plan on going to school to get a bachelor's degree in accounting and eventually pursue a master's degree," said Delacruz. "A dream job of mine would be working with a bank firm or as an accountant -- I like working with numbers."

Although the Guam native is excited about his future, the time spent here will not be forgotten.

"I love this job and the people I work with -- the morale here is through the roof," he said. "Public health is both an awesome and challenging job and it provides the opportunity to continually learn."

Delacruz has learned quickly since joining the Air Force at 18, and pending the results of test scores, he hopes to have made Master Sergeant in less than 10 years since his original enlistment. The self-motivated Sergeant has no intentions to slow down any time soon.

"I would obviously someday like to make chief," he stated. "I'd like to be well established, successful and support my family for the future."

Sergeant Delacruz spends much of his time with his wife, Amanda, and their daughter, Nevaeh.

"We hang out together by sometimes hiking, fishing or taking road trips," he said. "If I could take a dream vacation I would take my family across the world to travel and see all the major sights and structures."

When his time at Grand Forks is up, Delacruz's travel will remain in the United States, specifically New Mexico, where much of he and his wife's family now lives.

Delacruz is also a basketball fan, joined the Air Force for the quality of life it provides and enjoys boxing to stay in shape.
