If you're just arriving or planning on permanently leaving Grand Forks Air Force Base, there is one person you'll need to pass through to make that happen.

Staff Sgt. Kimberly Edmonds, 319th Force Support Squadron NCOIC of career development, sees to it that all your needs and responsibilities are met.

"We process outbound assignments, retirees, separations, re-enlistments, and promotions among other things," said the friendly sergeant. "We stay busy, but it pays off to see everyone happy in the end."

While good customer service is a sure way to keep visitors content, those aren't the only people on her mind.

"My favorite part of the job is seeing my people happy," said the supervisor of five Airmen. "It is important to stay positive and support everyone working together."

That support is a direct representation of how the shop operates on a daily basis.

"We get along great over here," said Sergeant Edmonds. "We crack jokes, laugh a lot and maintain high morale by keeping a relaxed atmosphere all while getting the job done."

The Oklahoma native knows all about getting the job done the right way, as she was awarded both Base Personnel Manager and Airman of the Year for Grand Forks Air Force Base in 2008.

Much of her success can be attributed to a direct approach on all situations.

"Anyone that knows me knows that I am real and do not hide anything," she said. "I consider myself kind, funny and caring."

Sergeant Edmonds has earned her CCAF and is currently working on a bachelor's degree in criminal justice and forensics, with hopes of mixing up her career field.

"In the near future I would like to retrain into the Air Force Office of Special Investigations," said the soccer fanatic.

While Sergeant Edmonds' work now focuses on helping others stay up to date on career development, crossing paths with her hopeful future line of work may not be highly advised.
