Airman 1st Class Micah V. Thomas, Material Management at 319th Logistics Readiness Squadron, had no idea what he was in for when he came to Grand Forks Air Force Base.

Thomas was born and raised in Dallas, and the lifestyle there was much different than it is here.

"Living in Dallas was a lot more up-beat," said Thomas.

At first he said he didn't like it here, but after he realized this was an amazing learning environment for a first-term airman, he felt blessed.

Family is very important to Thomas. He wanted to be stationed somewhere relatively close to home, but now he realizes that the people he works with are like a family. The feeling is there and he said his work benefits due to the high morale in his workplace.

Thomas joined the Air Force in July of 2011, directly after finishing his associate degree.

"I joined the Air Force because I wanted to do something that would make my family proud," said Thomas.

His current job at material management is perfect in his opinion, since he majored in business.

"Supply and business go hand-in-hand which helps me gain good work experience," said Thomas.

Thomas says the best part about the Air Force is the vast amount of opportunities it provides to do anything education wise.

"Knowing that I have something to look forward to motivates me on a daily basis," said Thomas. "My career goal is to rank up and to get my degree so I can succeed in the future."

Outside of work Thomas likes to play all kinds of sports. Recently he has taken up swimming and is enjoying it.

He also likes to hang out with friends, watch movies and read on his off-time.
Thomas' favorite genres of music are Christian A cappella, Christian pop and clean R&B.

He recently joined the Air Force Sergeants Association that helps Air Force gain certain benefits on Capitol Hill.

He wants to own a restaurant and a bed-and-breakfast as a dream job.
