Senior Airman Meshala Moon is a career development technician who is furthering her college education by working in an Air Force job based around her studies.

Originally from Columbia S.C, Moon has a cosmetology license which she earned while she was still in high school. She was also a very active member in extracurricular activities which she says greatly benefited her in the Air Force life.

"I like to talk to, and meet new people all the time and that is basically my job," said Moon, a member of the 319th Force Support Squadron. "I make sure that people get the help they need from me if it's in my power to do so."

Moon said she joined right out of high school in 2008, because she had a thought that every prospective college student contemplates.

"I don't want to get a bunch of student loans and have to pay them off for the next 10 years of my life," said Moon. "There's also the problem of actually finding a job so I am very grateful for the Air Force tuition assistance."

Moon is in charge of various paperwork aspects of every Airman's life such as re-enlistments, promotions and retirements.

"I think my job is very necessary in the Air Force, without me people wouldn't be able to further themselves through things like promotions or BTZ [below the zone]," said Moon.

Moon said keeping herself in good spirit is key to staying motivated every day.

While perusing her Bachelor of Arts in human resource management, Moon said she loves the fact that all of her Air Force career has revolved around what she is learning.

"I've been given a great opportunity," said Moon. "I don't know what my future will hold, I'll just have to see where my education can take me."
