Rank and name: Senior Airman Ernest Trosen

Unit: 319th Contracting Flight

Duty title: Contract Administrator

Time in service: 7 years, 1 month

Hometown: Walcott, N.D.

1. What moment or accomplishment as a Warrior of the North are you most proud of and why?

It is important to me because I want to make sure my family can live in a place that has freedom. I also want to keep serving so I can support my fellow service members in any capacity that I can. If it's writing a contract that makes sure they have a bed to sleep in at night down-range (current job) or loading a C-17 full of supplies to be air-dropped over a small forward operating base (last job).

2. What moment or accomplishment as a Warrior of the North are you most proud of and why?

The day I awarded my first contract was my most accomplished military moment thus far. I found a solution for an issue under a road where we didn't have to actually dig up the actual road to fix it. This gave me the confidence in myself.

3. What is your favorite part of your job?

I would have to say going out on site visits with contractors. It lets me see and meet people on the base that I wouldn't normally get to meet.

4. Who inspires you and why?

My wife inspires me; she pushes me to better myself every day.

5. What's the first thing that made you think Grand Forks Air Force Base was a cool place other than the temperature or weather?

This place is cool to me because I am an hour away from my family and friends; I grew up south of Fargo and was in the North Dakota Air National Guard for six and a half years of my career. I transferred into active duty Oct. 17, 2012, and was expecting to get stationed in a different part of the country, but to my wife's and my surprise, we got stationed where we've been living for the past 3 years.
