Grand Forks AFB Fire Dept. set to host Fire Prevention Week events for 2013 Published Oct. 2, 2013 319th Air Base Wing Public Affairs GRAND FORKS AIR FORCE BASE -- The Grand Forks Air Force Base Fire Department is hosting the following series of events in observance of National Fire Prevention Week. · Oct. 7 (10:30 a.m.-1p.m.) - Fire Safety Booth at Airey Dining Facility: Focus on kitchen safety for dorm residence. · Oct. 8 (9 a.m.-1p.m.) - Eielson Elementary: Fire truck display with gear, Sparky meet and greet, and E.D.I.T.H. (Exit Drills In The Home) trailer demonstrations. · Oct. 9 (2:15-3:15 p.m.) - Twining Elementary: Rally with briefing on home fire safety. (10:30-11:30 a.m.) - Fire Safety Booth at the Exchange · Oct. 10 (9:30-10:30 a.m.) - Child Development Center: Fire truck display with gear, meet Sparky, and E.D.I.T.H. (Exit Drills In The Home) trailer demonstrations. (3:45-4:45p.m.) - Youth Center: Fire truck display with gear, Sparky meet and greet, and E.D.I.T.H. (Exit Drills In The Home) trailer demonstrations. · Oct. 11 (noon-4 p.m.) -Fire Department Open House/Closing Ceremony: Guided tours for kids and families around the fire station. There will also be a Firefighter Challenge course set up for guests to try. Fire Prevention Week will culminate with the extinguishing of the fire extinguisher trainer at approximately 4 p.m.
