The 319th Medical Group is scheduled to host a 5K in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month here, Oct. 10.

Participants are scheduled to meet at the Fitness Center in Gym 1 at 6:45 a.m. for opening remarks. The event will begin at 7 a.m. at the start of the 5K trail located across the street from the main entrance to the Fitness Center.

The event is open to all active-duty, civilians, retirees, family members and pets. Individuals interested in taking part in the event can walk, jog or run the 5 kilometers; however, they must wear pink. There will be prizes awarded for the most original costume.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is an annual international health campaign organized by major breast cancer charities every October to increase awareness of the disease and to raise funds for research into its cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure.
