Volunteers needed for Holiday Cookie Drive Published Dec. 4, 2013 By Staff Sgt. David Dobrydney 319th Air Base Wing Public Affairs GRAND FORKS AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. -- The Airmen who live in the dormitories here should expect an extra surprise next week. The Key Spouses Club will be holding the Annual Holiday Cookie Drive Dec. 9 at the Community Activity Center. Bonnie Bauman, wife of 319th Air Base Wing Commander Col. Paul Bauman, said that the goal is to collect 400 dozen cookies, and it doesn't matter what kind they are. "Whatever you can make," she said. "We will find a home for every cookie." The cookies will be packed into trays for the First Sergeants Association to deliver to every Airman living in the dorms. Those baking cookies should bring them to the CAC between 7 and 10 a.m. using a disposable plate, tray or bag. There will be runners available to ferry the cookies from donors' cars inside to be packed. Individuals who aren't cooking-inclined but still wish to participate should be at the CAC by 9 a.m. to help with the sorting, with delivery scheduled for noon to 2 p.m. For volunteers with children, there will be activities to keep them occupied while the packing goes on. "This is an Air Force tradition," said Bauman, adding that the drive is a way to help celebrate the holidays with those who cannot get away to visit family or don't have access to a full kitchen to bake on their own. "It's a neighborly thing to do," Bauman concluded.
