Early dismissal authorized for Grand Forks AFB personnel

Col. Paul Bauman, 319th Air Base Wing commander, has authorized early dismissal beginning at 3:30 p.m. due to deteriorating weather conditions.

Supervisors and commanders must ensure employees are released according to the Geographic Tier System to ensure orderly and safe departure from Grand Forks AFB.

Employees should be released in 15-minute intervals to allow for a smooth traffic flow off the installation and those first released should be those with the longest distances to travel.

* Tier 1 consists of GFAFB proper

* Tier 2 includes all areas within a 10-mile radius from GFAFB

* Tier 3 includes all areas within 10-20 mile radius from GFAFB

* Tier 4 includes all areas which extend beyond a 20-mile radius from GFAFB

For civilian employees, those who are in a duty status (not on leave) or who are expected to return from leave to duty status at the time the early dismissal takes effect, are excused without charge to leave.

Note that storm essential personnel remain on duty unless administrative leave has been authorized by the squadron commander.

Questions concerning documentation and provisions permitted for civilian personnel should be directed to Civilian Personnel Section at 747-5038.
