Staff Sgt. Brett Silmon, 319th Security Forces Military working dog handler, offers a military working dog demonstration to a spouses’ group Jan. 22, 2015, on Grand Forks Air Force Base, N.D. The event was part of a new tour program geared toward showing spouses the workplaces of a military base and what each section does. Not only does the group tour the base, but they also attend several briefings including SAPR (sexual assault prevention and response) and resiliency training. “The spouses of our active duty members are the heart and soul of the Air Force. They are the ones who hold down the fort at home. This tour was about them and showing them how they fit into the big picture,” said Patricia Cerone, 319th Air Base Wing community support coordinator.
