Air Mobility Command Honor Guard Program Manager of the Year: Staff. Sgt. Alexandra Crawley Published April 20, 2015 By Senior Airman Zachiah Roberson 319th Air Base Wing Public Affairs GRAND FORKS AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. -- Staff Sgt. Alexandra Crawley, 319th Force Support Squadron Honor Guard program manager, was recently named the best in Air Mobility Command for the year 2014. This award is given to those who show the most significant improvement and contribution in the area of Base Honor Guard program management. "I'm still in shock even though people are telling me all the time that I shouldn't be and that I deserve it," said Crawley. The first to throw the reason for winning the award to her flights, Crawley had to not only create a training regiment for each new flight but train them also. "Every flight I've had here has helped me get this award; if it wasn't for them being as professional as they were I wouldn't have been able to achieve this," said Crawley. "Also Sergeant Robert Segler [319th Force Support Squadron Honor Guard NCO-in-charge] supported me in numerous aspects of my day-to-day tasks; he always had my back whenever I needed anything." As a staff sergeant, Crawley did not feel she was capable of winning this award, she thought that since there were so many higher ranking personnel in the same position as her at other bases that she would stand no chance in HG-related awards. To her surprise she came out on top. "I was sure since I'm working in a job that truly required someone higher [in rank] to fill that I would be struggling, but now that I have this I realize all the days of hard work and sacrifices were worth it," said Crawley. "I think I just underestimated myself, and I now truly feel like I can do anything in the Air Force after winning this award." Through keeping the base Honor Guard fully active in the community and maintaining a fully active training regime, Crawley also found time to complete her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology further enhancing her leadership capabilities. "I just come to work every day and do my job to the best of my abilities, and I am really happy to be receiving this, it shows me that all my hard work paid off," said Crawley. Crawley will now go on to compete at the Air Force level following this award.
