Breach, secure, clear: 319th SFS holds multi-agency critical incident response training Published Jan. 23, 2026 By Staff Sgt. Jovan Bank 319th Reconnaissance Wing Public Affairs GRAND FORKS AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. -- Airmen and mission partners of the 319th Reconnaissance Wing participated in a multi-agency critical incident response training Jan. 12 to 15, here. “The goal for the week was to give our members more reps at a tactical level,” said Tech Sgt. James McKinney, non-commissioned officer in charge of training for the 319th Security Forces Squadron. “Instead of an evaluation, we wanted to host a training event because it allows us to incorporate aspects of real-world situations. This type of experience gives us the opportunity to stop and rewind in real time to see if there is a better way of doing something.” Members of the 319th Civil Engineer Squadron, Medical Group, Force Support Squadron and Comptroller Squadron participated in the training at different points during the week to offer the 319th SFS and Office of Special Investigations a variety of incidents to respond to. The 319th RW’s Point Defense Battle Lab also participated in the training event by piloting small unmanned aerial systems to represent aerial threats. “Whether that is training finance individuals to give the description of suspects or our medical airmen training for mass casualties, we want the training to be as effective as it can be,” said McKinney. In addition to coordination within the 319th RW, the 319th SFS and OSI included agents from Customs and Border Protection’s on base facility and officers from the Grand Forks Police Department. “Bringing in outside organizations to training events provides an environment that is ripe for information and Tactics, Techniques and Procedures sharing to help strengthen each other’s organizations,” said Maj. Blaize Dunn, commander for the 319th SFS. “Focusing on integration helps build valuable experience for our Defenders in both deployed and home station scenarios and makes the joint force stronger.”
