The 410th Test and Evaluation Squadron, Beale Air Force Base, California, officially activated a geographically separated unit, Detachment 1, at Grand Forks Air Force Base, N.D., on July 21, 2025.

The newly activated detachment will focus on firmly aligning themselves with the 319th Reconnaissance Wing mission by executing test objectives while ensuring the sustainment and advancement of the RQ-4 Global Hawk Block 40.

“Detachment 1 will reduce challenges faced by the 319th RW personnel when taking on test related functions,” said Capt. Vincent Feeley, 410th TES Detachment 1 commander, “our presence will enhance coordination across pilots, sensor operators, maintenance, communications specialist, IT professionals and base leadership.”

The addition of the Detachment 1 will also support existing partnerships within the local community.

“Grand Forks AFB is a central hub for Unmanned Aircraft Systems operations that provides a unique ecosystem for test integration,” said Feeley. “The location fosters cooperation with surrounding entities such as Grand Sky, the University of North Dakota, the North Dakota National Guard and U.S. Customs and Border Protection.”

With the resources now available to them, Detachment 1 can expand their reach, maximize their potential, and remain fully committed to mission success.

“The addition of the 410th TES Detachment is a huge win for the RQ-4 community,” said Lt. Col. Robert Damron, 348th Reconnaissance Squadron commander. “I look forward to seeing how they leverage the capabilities and resources around them to champion innovation within the mission.”
