GRAND FORKS AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. – At Grand Forks Air Force Base, N.D., we are constantly looking for new ways to improve the quality of life and morale of our Airmen. A plan has been devised to implement parcel lockers in the dormitories to create a more cohesive system of receiving packages for our Airmen. The goal is for Airmen to be able to look forward to receiving their packages on time, without delay.

The lockers are currently in the testing phase to establish the correct process in using the parcel lockers and to allow Airmen a trial period to orient themselves with the new mailing system.

“Right now, there are lockers in the USPS lobby to evaluate their usefulness and make any needed adjustments to the system,” says Staff Sgt. Noah Cruz, a 319th Force Support Squadron official postal manager. “Currently, we need airmen to sign up for the lockers to be able to test their capabilities and compatibility with their lifestyle.”

The process of introducing the new mailing system into the dorms will take time, but once implemented, the change will help improve the quality of life of our airmen.

“Many of our dorm airmen work irregular hours that contrast with the hours of the post office,” says Master Sgt. Brian Wiese, a 319th Civil Engineer Squadron superintendent of unaccompanied housing. “With the addition of the lockers into the dorms, all of our airmen will have the convenience of receiving their mail without having to sacrifice their time.”

Once the lockers have been properly assessed within the post office, the decision will be made to incorporate them into the dormitories. Airmen who are interested in participating in the trial run of the parcel lockers should get in contact with the Postal Service Center for more information.
