The 319th Operations Support Squadron took the undefeated bragging rights from the 319th Logistics Readiness Squadron during an intramural volleyball game at the fitness center here April 2.

Matt Tafoya, OSS, served the first volley, which resulted in his squadron winning the first point of the first game.

LRS' Casey Fielder dropped a slow mover into the ops field and brought the score to 3-2, but the victory was short lived. William Carpenter, OSS, served without hindrance and brought his team ahead, 4-2.

A high speed volley between LRS' Jody Manual and OSS' Robert Zafke added to the tension, but the LRS effort was fleeting, with Zafke scoring his first kill in the end.

Fielder annihilated OSS' front line, bringing LRS closer, 8-9.

But, another undisputed serve by OSS' Steven Dougherty gave his team a two-point lead.

After another tap by Fielder, the score was tied 22-22.

In the end, OSS secured the first game with a kill from Bobby Fowler (25-23).

LRS' Natividad Kolb serves the first volley of game two. After a well-played volley by both teams, OSS' Mark Hendrickson confirmed the first point.

Logistics' first point was gained when Ops just couldn't bring it. The score was brought to 5-1, but the LRS turn to serve was fleeting.

An extinguished OSS spike consummated another point for LRS, though.

Logistics started running a convoy of points and sneaked another tap by OSS defenders, getting closer to the Ops lead, 15-13.

OSS answered back with a stealthy tap to the middle and maintained their two-point lead, 16-14.

Shella Duque's (LRS) two serves tied the game, 17-17, but lost her mojo after an official time out.

Ops' hardened front line barricaded any attempts by logistics to score and got close to the win, 21-17.

Harry Vanderbach served game point, and a kill by Fowler sealed the win, 25-18.
"It was an eye-opening loss," said Manual, LRS. "We're still a strong team."

"It was a great game and a great win," said Dougherty, OSS. "They were definitely the best completion we've had so far."
