The Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI) led a coalition of agents and law enforcement agencies in a counter-narcotics operation on Grand Forks AFB, Friday.

The operation was the culmination of a month-long investigation involving AFOSI, the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation Narcotics Taskforce, United States Border Patrol, 319th Security Forces Squadron and the Grand Forks County Sheriff's Office.

In August 2008, AFOSI agents identified a military member and his spouse were distributing illegal controlled substances from their base residence. Agents also identified force protection violations by the couple that could potentially endanger the security of the entire base.

"AFOSI and their law enforcement partners continually work to ensure base residences and the greater Grand Forks area are safe, while making sure those who break the law are brought to justice," said Special Agent Ted Born, AFOSI Detachment 320 commander. "This collaborative effort clearly demonstrates each agency's willingness to achieve that goal."
