Commander’s call stresses safety over long weekend Published Sept. 2, 2009 By Senior Airman R. Michael Longoria 319th Public Affairs Office GRAND FORKS AFB, N.D. -- In preparation for the long weekend, wing leadership held a series of briefings to stress the importance of safety Sept. 2 in the base theater here. Col. John A. Quinn, 319th Air Refueling Wing vice-commander, held three commander's calls throughout the day. During each commander's call, Colonel Quinn discussed ways to enjoy the time off but reminded everyone that safety is essential. "I'm not saying you can't relax and have a good time," said the colonel. "We just need to make sure we are going about it the proper way." The rest of the commander's call included discussions on the upcoming changes to the Air Force fitness program, the plan for flu-immunizations and an update on the 101 Critical Days of Summer as well as a short briefing from Susan M. Grollimund, the base's Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Program assistant. Colonel Quinn ended the commander's call by taking questions from the audience. "Use the time off well, we are going to be a busy wing when we get back next week," he said referring to the upcoming exercises.
