Year of the Air Force Family kicks-off at GFAFB Published Nov. 5, 2009 By Pam Schumaker 319th Force Support Squadron GRAND FORKS AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. -- Grand Forks Air Force Base is celebrating the "Year of the Air Force Family" and "Military Family Month" with a kick-off week from Nov. 5 to 14. This initiative includes the entire base; single airmen, military families and civilian employees. The concept for the Air Force-wide YoAFF initiative is to develop a culture of caring for Airmen and their families. Throughout the year there will be numerous programs, events and educational opportunities at Grand Forks AFB. In the coming year the base will work toward the goal and mission set by Michael B. Donley, Secretary of the Air Force, which includes a promise to take care of families made to each Airman and family member in the Air Force. YoAFF is based on four pillars; health and wellness, Airman and family support, education, development and employment and Airman and family housing. Grant funding will be available and applied for to aid Grand Forks AFB in creating and continuing to serve the base community. Look for the Air Mobility Command YoAFF logo now through July 2010. All events during the kick-off week are open to the entire base population. For more information on the YoAFF call Pam Schumaker at (701) 747-3158. Click here to see the schedule of events.
