Airmen's Council opens Club Sub Zero Published Dec. 16, 2009 By Senior Airman R. Michael Longoria 319th Air Refueling Wing Public Affairs GRAND FORKS AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. -- After 10 months of hard work, the Airman's Council hosted its second club night in as many months. "We had a great turn-out and the event seemed to be a success," said Senior Airman Alston E. Leslie, 319th Logistic Readiness Squadron. "We are looking forward to holding future club nights." Club Sub Zero will be held monthly at the base's Community Activity Center for all E-4s and below. "The purpose of the Club Sub Zero is to help reduce drinking related incidents, reduce underage drinking in the dormitories and boost morale among all Airmen on Grand Forks Air Force Base," said Airman Leslie. "We want them to know that the base cares about them and what they do while assigned to the 'Bring It' wing." The Airman's Council provided a disc-jockey and gaming as well as providing a prepaid tab of $250 dollars on the bar. Airmen 21 years old and over were issued wrist bands to purchase alcoholic beverages. "We are hoping that providing more options will lead to Airman having a good time in a more responsible manner," said Senior Airman Eric J. Hurtado, 319th Contracting Squadron and Airmen's Council president. In addition to free drinks and prizes, the council provided designated drivers to give partygoers a safe trip home.
