Grand Forks AFB gives 118% Published Dec. 17, 2009 By 2nd Lt. Chase McFarland 319th Air Refueling Wing Public Affairs GRAND FORKS AIR FORCE BASE, ND -- Grand Forks Air Force Base surpassed its Combined Federal Campaign goal of $71,900 by 18 percent. The CFC, which ran from Oct. 19 to Nov. 13, raised a total of $84,526. "Despite having our [Conventional Operation Readiness Inspection] during week two and into week three of the campaign, we were still able to achieve all of our goals," said Capt. Erik Redl, 319th Operation Support Squadron chief of Current Operations. The CFC is a Department of Defense program allowing government employees to be contacted by fundraising organizations. "It's basically an agreement between charities and our federal government to disallow solicitation outside of the CFC timeframe," said Captain Redl. "CFCs allow personnel to dedicate time to charities around the world for a four week period and not be solicited for an entire year."
