This year's ceremony was the second in the base's history, and showcased children who displayed valor during their parent's deployments, temporary duty, or stationing at remote locations. "The children were nominated by their parents for their contributions to their parent's successes in the military," said Master Sgt. Karlyn Beadles, 319th Force Support Squadron, who organized and coordinated the event. "The children's support and sacrifice made it possible for their parents to continue their service to our great nation in the United States Air Force." Col. Don Shaffer, 319th Air Base Wing commander, presented each hero with a certificate of recognition and a medal in the shape of the state of North Dakota with a specially engraved ''Warrior of the North'' logo thanking them for serving in their own unique way.
