Snow removal, housing area parking reminders

Curbside parking in military family housing areas is not allowed until further notice to allow for street snow removal, according to base officials.

Residents living in non-renovated homes in the Holly housing area may use vacant parking spaces. However, if a vacant parking space is used, that person is responsible for maintaining that driveway. Parking is not allowed on any military family housing area lawns.

Housing residents are also reminded that they are responsible to remove snow from all concrete in their area of responsibility; all snow and ice must be removed from sidewalks and driveways within 24 hours of each snowfall. Sidewalks must be cleared to their maximum width.

Snow removal - including piles between garage doors - must provide access to the following: furnace air intake and exhaust pipes, natural gas regulators, water heater exhaust, and garbage/recycling pick up areas.

If you're going to be away from your housing for more than 24 hours, you are required to get a "winter watchman," - a red light to be placed in your front window from the Housing Office.

You will also be asked to name the person who has a key to your house and the person who will be taking care of your snow removal.

If you have any questions about your areas of responsibility, please call the Housing Office at 747-3035 to have a yard inspector make a site visit to assist you.
