Capt. Brad Davies, one of two program coordinators, said that the drive runs from March 5 to April 13, and that Grand Forks' goal is to raise $24,946. As of March 16, he said, the base had already reached that goal. "We're off to a great start, but there are four weeks left," he said. Davies, who runs the program with Master Sgt. Jason Lewison, said the plan was to reach out quickly to the local community to provide them the opportunity to donate. About 25 unit representatives helped them achieve that goal, he said. Funds raised go to the Air Force Villages, Inc.; the Air Force Aid Society, Inc.; the General and Mrs. Curtis LeMay Foundations; and the Air Force Enlisted Village, Inc. The organizations "help Air Force people with aid in an emergency, with educational needs, or to have a secure retirement home for widows or widowers of Air Force members in need of financial assistance," according to the AFAF Web site more information, contact your unit representative.
