Mosquito spraying to begin at Grand Forks AFB Published April 24, 2012 By 319th AIR BASE WING PUBLIC AFFAIRS GRAND FORKS AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. -- Watch out mosquitoes, the Warriors of the North are coming for you. Three aerial mosquito spraying sessions are planned for this season, according to base officials. The first, from May 14-18, will target mosquito larva in standing water on areas around the base. A team flying in a C-130 Hercules aircraft will makes passes at an altitude of 100-150 feet to spray the water. Additional spray missions on June 25-29 and Aug. 6-10 will target adult (flying) mosquitoes. Spraying could commence about 6 a.m. daily during the first mission and will continue until operations are complete. Spraying will be postponed in the event of inclement weather or high winds. Base occupants are recommended to remain indoors during all the spraying sessions.
