Sports and Fitness Center upgrades planned this summer Published May 23, 2012 GRAND FORKS AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. -- The Sports and Fitness Center is receiving upgrades this summer, and officials ask for the community's patience as the work is conducted. Projects include: Installing new cedar panels in the men's sauna. The sauna will be closed during the project. Refinishing cedar panels in the women's sauna. The women's locker room will be closed for about three weeks, except to retrieve items for your locker. Please use the women's locker room at the pool during this time period. Removal of the men's whirlpool. Installation of handicap-accessible doors at both entrances and at the pool entrance. Minimal impact expected during installation. Replacement of all old shower heads and valves in both locker rooms. Replacement of front desk counter area. Desk staff will relocate to the desk area near the pool. Replacement of wall carpet in weight room. "We will do our best to keep you updated and to keep the impact to you at a minimum," according to Carol Muir, Sports and Fitness Center Director. Muir added that the old outdoor 10k trail is no longer in use and the signs marking the trail will be removed. Instead, lighting will be installed on the 5k trail and the trail will be completed along Eielson Street. Call Muir at 747-4738 for more information.
