A total of 15 volunteers from Grand Forks Air Force Base helped at the June 2, 2012, Dewey Kvidt Memorial Duathlon, said Geoff Bengtson, a race committee member. Bengtson said he greatly appreciated the Air Force volunteers that came out. "They helped in many ways to make it a successful event," said Bengtson. The volunteers helped set up for the event, manned water stations for the runners, provided traffic security at road crossings and helped clean up after the race. The Air Force is typically involved in events in Grand Forks, so this is just a great example of that devotion, said Bengtson.
