Base and community team up for MAC Golf Tournament Published June 21, 2012 By Airman 1st Class Zachiah Roberson GRAND FORKS AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. -- The Military Affairs Committee golf tournament was held June 18 at the Plainsview Golf Course here. The tournament - sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce - takes place annually as a way to build and strengthen the relationship between the military and the community. Thirteen four-person teams made up of two civilians and two military members battled it out for the top spot, with the team of Maj. Wendy Leone, Phil Barfield, Larry Sloan, and Randy Kitzmiller taking the top prize of $100 worth of gift certificates. The Chamber of Commerce has been hosting the MAC golf tournament for at least 15 years, and the relationship with the civilian and military here has never been stronger, said Cheryl Ramberg, co-chair of the Military affairs Column in Grand Forks. "This is our way of getting out and meeting our military community," said Ramberg. The event wrapped up the first of two MAC tournaments, with one more scheduled to take place Aug. 20, 2012, in the city of Grand Forks.
