Housing privatization delayed at Grand Forks Published July 19, 2012 GRAND FORKS AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. -- An ongoing housing privatization effort here will not begin as planned on Aug. 1, according to base officials. Balfour Beatty Communities (BBC) will take over management of on-base housing here at an undetermined date. The Air Force has identified BBC to privatize housing across four states for six U.S. Air Force base communities, including Grand Forks AFB. The six bases - Grand Forks AFB, Minot AFB and Cavalier AFS, N.D.; Ellsworth AFB, S.D.; Cannon AFB, N.M.; and Mountain Home AFB, Idaho - comprise The Northern Group. The overall group deal, valued at $468.9 million in development costs, provides new and renovated housing for 4,761 military families using only $7.4 million in appropriated funds.
