More than 100 Airmen from Grand Forks Air Force Base, N.D., supported their local community at the 25th annual CATS Incredible Fishing Tournament from July 27-29.

Airmen provided gate security, manned booths and performed other duties at the event, which drew 230 anglers from North Dakota, Minnesota and beyond.

The tournament is one of the biggest events put on by the Grand Forks/East Grand Forks Chamber of Commerce according to 319th ABW Command Chief Master Sgt. David Carlson.

"The Grand Forks Chamber of Commerce provides outstanding support to many of our major events at the base and this is just one way we can say thank you," Carlson added.

Kimberly Strom, program and event director for the Grand Forks/East Grand Forks Chamber of Commerce, had nothing but good things to say about the men and women from the base who came out to volunteer.

"The base has always given us support and it's only grown over the years," Strom said. "[The volunteers] are doing a great job."

Among the volunteers who spent their Saturday at CATS Incredible was Airman 1st Class Scott Philips, 319th Operations Support Squadron.

"This was fun, getting involved with the local community," said Philips, who helped hand out merchandise at the event. Philips added that he plans to volunteer at CATS Incredible next year.

Carlson was very proud of the work the 319th ABW Airmen provided.

"The Grand Forks community has made Airmen feel at home for many years and it is important we give back to the community," he said. "Our Airmen embrace the fact that our commitment as Airmen does not stop at the main gate."

Strom said she has been involved with CATS Incredible for the past three years and summed up the Airmen who help make it a success year after year in one word: "phenomenal."
