Mosquito spraying has begun on base due to an increase in West Nile Virus cases in the local area.

Mosquito spraying hours will run from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. two to three times per week, weather permitting.

Although Monday through Friday are normal spraying days, it is possible that it may be conducted on weekends. Spraying activities will be canceled in the event of rain or winds in excess of 10 mph.

Housing residents should stay indoors during mosquito spraying operations. During these times, children should avoid following the spray truck and playing in the fog. Any time the driver sees children not following these guidelines the area will not be sprayed. When outside and the spray truck is seen approaching return indoors or stay inside a vehicle until the truck as passed.

As West Nile Virus is a mosquito-transmitted disease, residents are reminded to use an insect repellent containing DEET. For more information, visit the Center for Disease Control website.
