The Health and Wellness Center here has issued a three-week-long challenge to Warriors of the North: keep your holiday fitness spirit jolly!

"This was a collective idea at the HAWC to do something during the month of December to keep peoples' fitness momentum going," said Katie Frushour, HAWC dietitian. "We definitely want people to enjoy themselves this holiday season, but it's easy during this time of year to let yourself go. This is just one way of helping people keep fitness and nutrition in the back of their minds."

The contest began Dec. 3, with a challenge being posted weekly on Facebook, geared toward one of the HAWC's three major components: fitness, nutrition and tobacco-free living. Participants must complete challenges either by posting to the Facebook group or completing the task at hand. Those who wish to participate may join the contest by "liking" the HAWC's Facebook page.

"More than anything else, this three-week challenge is just about getting some visibility for our Facebook page, so we can keep people in the loop on what classes and events are being offered here at the HAWC," said Frushour.

So far, she said, the page is up to nearly 160 "likes."

Participation in Facebook challenges will be awarded points based on how many "likes" the post receives, with prizes awarded throughout the event to those with the most "likes."
