The 319th Civil Engineer Squadron dominated the event, earning 245 points. Coming in second place was the 319th Operational Support Squadron, with 190 points, and the 319th Security Forces Squadron finished third with 180 points. Hundreds of Airmen competed against each other in the fitness center and at the bowling alley throughout the day. Staff Sgt. Amanda Morgan, who helped organize the annual event, explained that while the squadron personnel were competing, the overall event was a great family day for the entire base population. The final competition of the day was the famed, "Frosty Sailor Boat Race." Teams built boats out of cardboard and duct tape, and competed to see who could race from one end of the base pool to the other end in the quickest time. Winter Bash is one of two base-wide annual events designed to provide a series of friendly competitions created to boost morale, build camaraderie and promote spirit de corps. Winter Bash directly supports the Air Force's Comprehensive Airman Fitness Program, which is designed to build and sustain a thriving and resilient Air Force Community that fosters mental, physical, social and spiritual fitness.
