Delayed reporting on April 15 due to major snowstorm Published April 14, 2013 By Tim Flack 319th Air Base Wing Public Affairs GRAND FORKS AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. -- Grand Forks Air Force Base leaders authorized their personnel to report late for work Monday as a major snowstorm crawled across North Dakota on Sunday. Base personnel were to report for work no later than 10 a.m. on April 15, officials announced at 8 p.m. Sunday. Storm essential personnel; however, were to report for normal duty. Additional guidance for base schools, including possible delays or closures, will be published as it becomes available. The National Weather Service issued a "winter storm warning" for Grand Forks county. The warning, updated at 7:36 p.m. Sunday, was to remain in effect until 1 p.m. Monday. According to the warning: Timing - Snow will continue to spread slowly northward, continuing overnight into Monday morning. Winds - East to northeast winds of 15-30 miles per hour were expected to turn northerly on Monday. Visibility could be under one-half of a mile in heavy snow bands. Snow - 5-8 inches expected, but will vary due to intensity in snow bands; could vary greatly in short distances.
