Base officials welcomed another booming turnout for the annual "Beautiful Child Photo Shoot and Children's Activity Fair," on April 9 at Liberty Square.

In honor of "Month of the Military Child,"and "Child Abuse Prevention Month," the activity fair was full of military children from across the base participating in activities such as games, arts and crafts, healthy care activities and many more.

This year's turnout was a whopping 225 attendees with a total of 76 photos taken of children at the photo shoot.

"It has been a successful event and well attended event for the past five years," said Peggy Littlefield, a family advocacy nurse. "People like to show off their beautiful children, and children have the opportunity to learn skills while visiting the various booths set up for them."

The event which ran from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. was sponsored by various helping agencies on the base.

On the upper level of the square, kids under the age of 5 were able to have their photos taken. All the children received a certificate and the photos will be displayed at the Community Activity Center at a later date.

All attendees were given the chance to learn the benefits of living a positive lifestyle by visiting the booths, many of which provided hands-on activities for children.

"It is beneficial to both children and parents as they get to spend quality time with them," Littlefield said. "Children were able to do learning activities and observe and explore the world in a safe environment."

The visitors were also welcome to explore base emergency vehicles such as a police car, fire truck and an ambulance.

Most activities were set up and run with the support of 76 volunteers, seven more than last year, who helped wherever they could throughout the two-hour event.

The Beautiful Child Photo Shoot and Children's Activity Fair directly supports the Air Force's Comprehensive Airman Fitness Program, which is designed to build and sustain a thriving and resilient Air Force Community that fosters mental, physical, social and spiritual fitness.
