The 319th Medical Group pharmacy is opening its doors to patients with cough and cold symptoms, including fever, cough, congestion, sore throat or runny nose, who don't feel they are sick enough to need an appointment with a doctor.

"The biggest reason we've implemented this program is to make a trip to the clinic more convenient for the patient," said Capt. Rebecca Arneson, 319th Medical Group pharmacist. "We wanted to make it so that people didn't have to set up a separate appointment to see a doctor about common cold symptoms."

Patients may visit the pharmacy on a walk-in basis during normal operating hours on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m., and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.

Patients must meet the following criteria in order to be seen:

*Must be 7 or older

*Must have had symptoms for seven days or less

*Must not have had a temperature of higher than 102.4 consistently for more than three days

*Must not be on Personnel Readiness Program or flying status

Upon arriving at the clinic, patients should fill out a symptom questionnaire. The pharmacist will review the form and determine the best treatment option and medication.
