Grand Forks AFB blows the whistle on National Preparedness Month

The whistles/mini flashlights with compasses were given to information booth guests looking to add tools to their emergency preparedness kit. Whistles are thought to be excellent additions emergency kits because they can be used to alert people at further distances that someone is in trouble such as being stuck under debris. A compass is also considered a valuable emergency kit tool if a person gets lost in severe weather such as thick fog, or can’t pin point their location because all nearby landmarks and traffic markers have been wiped out by a tornado.
