The United States Air Force Thunderbirds will highlight the Grand Forks Air Expo on May 22, 2010, here.

"Thunder over the Red River" will be the first air show at Grand Forks Air Force Base in four years.

"We are very excited to host the Thunderbirds during our upcoming air show," said Col. Don Shaffer, 319th Air Refueling Wing commander. "We are expecting a great turn-out, especially since this will be the region's only air show next year."

The theme for the air show is "Proud History - Bright Future."

"The air show will celebrate our proud heritage and past missions of Grand Forks AFB, while at the same time highlighting new technologies and our future missions," said Lt. Col. Bradley S. Baugh, 319th Operations Support Squadron director of operations.

Other aerial and ground displays are also in the works for the air show.

This is a free event open to the general public.
