319 OSS hails new commander Published March 26, 2010 By Airman 1st Class Rachel Martinez 319th Air Refueling Wing Public Affairs GRAND FORKS AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. -- Lt. Col. Darin C. Driggers formally assumed command of the 319th Operations Support Squadron from Lt. Col. James L. Warnke during a change-of-command ceremony March 26 at the Northern Lights Club. As the commander of the 319 OSS, Colonel Warnke was responsible for more than 130 personnel that support the 319th Operations Group. The 319 OG mission include the KC- 135 Stratotankers, aircrew flight equipment, weather, wing scheduling, training and tactics. Colonel Warnke also oversaw the base's $265 million airfield and the 4,200 square miles of airspace controlled by the Radar Approach Control facility and the Air Traffic Control tower. "I am a lucky man with a fantastic family, who has commanded arguably the best group of operation support professionals in the Air Force," said Colonel Warnke. Prior to this assignment, Colonel Driggers was the chief of wing safety for the 319th Air Refueling Wing, chief of mobility portfolio, chief of operational support aircraft, deputy chief of staff for air, space, operations, plan and requirements, a KC-135 instructor pilot and a KC-135 pilot. "I want us to work together and can't wait to fulfill the mission as defenders of this country," said Colonel Driggers about his new squadron.
